Apprenticeship

The governance officer apprenticeship Trailblazer Group was formed in December 2020, spearheaded by Coca-Cola Europacific Partners. It is:
-
A group of governance professionals who worked together to introduce a new route into the governance profession, through the creation of a new apprenticeship standard and now monitors its progress and success
-
Uniquely representative of the entire governance profession, including representatives from a wide range of organisations: listed companies, private companies, professional services, the civil service, charities, sports associations, multi-academy trusts, the NHS and universities
-
Chaired by Helen Baker of HN06
The Trailblazer Group is united by a common purpose: to open the governance profession to a wider talent pool.

The apprenticeship proposal was approved in March 2022, the occupational standard and end point assessment plan in March 2023 and the funding in June 2023 (see the Skills England website). The Trailblazer Group is now gathering monitoring the progress and success of the apprenticeship standard, including obtaining feedback from apprentices, training providers and End Point Assessment Organisations so that it can be revised if necessary in the future.

Some changes to the assessment of the apprenticeship standard are expected to be made by the autumn of 2026.
